Weinhaus Domstein in Bad Honnef

Very wonderful little place for a wine right on the vineyard. The very nice host can provide helpful advice on wine technology and also pours in Christian proportions. That was a nice afternoon !! 🍷

We went there for the first time today and on a recommendation for lunch. There was an onion tart and herring with fried potatoes, plus Federweisser and water. The restaurant is getting a bit old, just like the (nice) staff, but the food looked appetizing and we liked it at first until we discovered not one but two dead flies in fried potatoes. We didn't complain straight away because, among other things, 2/3 of the plate was eaten and we felt sorry for the waiter (an older man). When we paid we did mention it and the waiter denied it (I hope just for fun) and didn't even apologize. Still there was a tip, but we'll never be back.

The wine is very good. And the host is actually an original.

We had a glass of wine there with my family on a late summer evening, from the vineyards that lie directly below the Drachenfels and that belong to the Pieper winery. We liked the wine very much and we were served very friendly. From the terrace you look directly into the vineyards. We can recommend!

Food was good and rustic. But you can't buy wine from the winemaker, as we actually thought ...

There are excellent and award-winning wines, you can also dine excellently, e.g. a nice rump steak with fried potatoes, the salads are also highly recommended, there are tarte flambée and home-cooked roast beef, optionally with potato salad, of course homemade, or fried potatoes! This inn is also a very nice location in the middle of the vineyard.

Nice wine house with good price / performance ratio. Good maps, delicious wine, friendly staff and a nice outdoor terrace. It's worth it.

A very nice small and above all Cozy wine bar surrounded by a wonderful landscape! The landlord is an absolute "original" whose dry humor one should not take directly crooked. He impresses with his special kind and is a fine guy. The menu is small but nice and the wine a pleasure. After a hike on and around the Drachenfels an absolute must! Who here chooses the tourist program and a "fast food" expects is wrong! And the review with "children unfriendly" I can not understand the best will, I was here often with my / several children zw. 6 u. 9 years and it was absolutely fine!

Absolutely awesome! Beautiful wine house with red wine überrankter terrace overlooking the vineyards ❤ When we arrived, the wine was freshly made in front of the house. The owner is an original, friendly and funny. The wine and the food are great! I can only recommend it 👍

we were today in the wine house on domstein, very friendly and polite we were welcomed by name. the food was very rich it was a successful day , the wine was great. we'll be back. It's all right

Enchanting place, excellent wine and service! The setting is simply perfect and the food is also good. It is the best place for an apero!

I would just like to point out: Jacqueline Frank which gave only 1 star here. Check out her reviews. All consistently only 1 star and a review is virtually identical in content although there are two very different places. I also do not want to have that person in my restaurant because, strangely enough, you have the feeling that she's just out to leave negative posts. Has objectivity and can do nothing. In this forum you should ban them!

Weinhaus Domstein is really "quaint". The staff is basically friendly, but sometimes something direct, if you know that before you can get on well. It is a bit unfavorable, however, if the kitchen is so overwhelmed in orders of a previously registered group (about 15 people) that the food all come one after another and some were forgotten. In the time no drink requests were recorded, so you went to the bar itself, and brought the drinks themselves to the table. The location is very nice, but you can hear the main road, which is very close.

Beautiful surroundings

It is "just sad" when some tourists give a traditional and respected location a 1-star rating, just because someone did not come running straight away to read their every wish from their lips. So, to get a certain evaluation right here: It's very nice here, "rustic" would be the right word. Sure, the tone is dry to harsh, but that's the way it is in the Rhineland ... at the same time, it's warm and honest. As for the cat: It doesn't live in the kitchen, but in the whole house. And if you had made a little effort to get into conversation with the people here, you would have found out how the landlords found the poor half-dead thing one day and lovingly nursed it back to life. And I personally prefer cats (who may or may not have been in the kitchen at some point) a hundred thousand times more than a super-fine and clinically clean restaurant where 5g designer food to fill a hollow tooth costs 50 euros. Or sneaky one-star reviewers.

Not recommendable!!!! Very unfriendly staff. The guest's wishes are not taken into account. Chef simply rounds up the bill and puts the money in his pocket as a tip before you can even say how much you want to give. A cat lives in the kitchen. Just sad!

Cosy place with pleasant owner. Nice small garden with vineyard view. Unfortunately highway is next to it and loud sound are disturbing. Otherwise would be straight four :)

For the second time we were here for Federweißer- and Zwiebelkuchensaison here, both highly recommended!
